Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer – Mission Critical Facilities - Milan, 3 days per week onsite

An internationally recognised engineering and design consultancy is seeking a talented Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer to join its growing Building Services Engineering team in Milan. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in mission-critical, data centre, or industrial projects who is looking to work on technically complex and innovative developments within a collaborative international environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of high-profile projects, supporting clients across the full project lifecycle from concept design through to detailed delivery. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to creating efficient, resilient, and sustainable engineering solutions for modern mission-critical facilities.

As part of the Electrical Engineering team, you will work alongside architects, mechanical engineers, sustainability specialists, and project managers to develop integrated building services solutions that balance operational performance, sustainability, and commercial value.

This position offers significant exposure to complex projects, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to take ownership of design delivery while mentoring junior engineers within the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage electrical engineering packages across multidisciplinary building projects
• Act as a senior technical point of contact for clients, consultants, and project stakeholders
• Coordinate electrical design activities with architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines
• Deliver detailed electrical designs for mission-critical and technically complex facilities
• Design systems including:
• Emergency and standby power systems
• Electrical distribution and small power systems
• Earthing and lightning protection systems
• ICT infrastructure and structured cabling
• Building automation and controls systems
• Photovoltaic systems and sustainable energy solutions
• Fire alarm, safety, and security systems
• Support project planning, resource coordination, and technical reviews
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior and intermediate engineers
• Ensure designs comply with relevant international standards, regulations, and best practices
• Contribute to innovation, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement within the engineering team

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related discipline
• Experience in electrical building services design
• Proven experience delivering data centre, mission-critical, or industrial building projects
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and design coordination
• Experience working within BIM/Revit environments; knowledge of parametric design would be beneficial
• Fluent written and spoken Italian and English
