RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior Marine Surveyor to join its office in Genoa within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division.

Mission

The Senior Surveyor serves as an experienced and knowledgeable professional within the organization, applying expertise in maritime Rules, Regulations, and industry principles. The Senior Surveyor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement of surveying processes.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Professional Specialist: Acts as a professional specialist, applying in-depth knowledge of Rules, Regulations, and industry concepts. Keeps abreast of new developments and recommends changes to surveying processes and safety programs.
  2. Inspection and Reporting: Conducts routine surveys on classed ships, offshore installations, or marine assets to ensure compliance with classification and statutory requirements. Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys.
  3. Leadership and Coordination: Plans, schedules, and coordinates various phases of surveying work. Monitors the quality of service, providing guidance to less experienced surveyors.
  4. Client Interaction: Engages with clients to solve problems within the area of expertise. Ensures client satisfaction through effective communication and resolution of issues.
  5. Training and Development: Provides guidance and training to less experienced surveyors. Contributes to the development and improvement of the skills and knowledge of the surveying team.
  6. Quality Assurance: Ensures the maintenance of quality, content, consistency, and continuity of work performed.
  7. Ethical Conduct: Upholds the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions, ensuring integrity, transparency, and fairness in survey processes.

Education

Master's Degree in Naval Engineering

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Surveyor or 6 years in engineering or inspection/survey fields with an IACS member Classification Society.
  • Understanding of RINA strategic technical positioning in the marine industry sector.
  • Proficiency in English, suitable for classification, statutory certification, and related services.
  • Ability to develop working knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the RINA Employee Safety Policy.
  • Ability to understand engineering plans, shipbuilding practices, and ship operations.

Surveying Capabilities

  • New building surveys: assessing materials, hull, machinery, and equipment compliance; issuing Certificates, Reports, and Records.
  • In-service surveys: assessing maintenance, repair follow-up, major conversions, and deficiencies; issuing Certificates and Reports.
  • Marine Management Systems audits and testing activities, including certification of service suppliers and manufacturers.

Knowledge

  • Ship engineering systems and machinery.
  • Computer programs or software related to job responsibilities.
  • Related technical interfaces for group projects.
