Senior Electrical Product Design Engineer – AWS Data Center Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop low‑voltage switchgear, power distribution cabinets, panel boards, and busduct products that meet AWS’s demanding infrastructure requirements.
• Own full‑cycle product development from concept to implementation, defining specifications and evaluating design changes to enhance reliability and cost efficiency.
• Partner with manufacturers, suppliers, third‑party testing labs, and engineering service providers to ensure compliance with international standards and deliver world‑class quality.
• Solve complex technical challenges and propose solutions that advance electrical distribution technology.
• Work with internal partner teams to solicit customer input and define design requirements for product design.
• Lead new product design, development and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment for AWS datacenters, including LV and MV switchgear, power distribution cabinets, and panels.
• Develop Capex and Opex budgets, coordinating vendor prototyping, testing and tooling requirements.
• Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC and federal, state, municipal requirements; conduct testing and certification as required.
• Validate design through prototype, pre‑production and first‑of‑kind builds; conduct DFx and value engineering analyses.
• Support manufacturing activities for new products across multiple geographic locations.
• Lead within the product development team and support internal and external teams that support the data center.

Travel : This role requires up to 25% domestic or international travel to support global projects, manufacturing sites, and compliance testing.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of data center design, construction, operations or facility maintenance experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities, including data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
• Ability to interpret electric code NEC, NFPA, UL891, UL508, UL1066, UL1558, ANSI C37, and other IEC codes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience reading, interpreting and creating construction drawings, specifications and submittal documents.
