In this role, he/she will act as Technical Authority within the Process Engineering department, providing high-level expertise in the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of anaerobic digestion systems, with a specific focus on liquid and pumpable feedstocks (e.g., organic waste, agricultural effluents, sewage sludge).

He/she will serve as a central technical reference point for internal teams involved in both the proposal and project execution phases, ensuring alignment between process design, performance expectations, and operational constraints. Additionally, he/she will interface directly with external stakeholders - such as clients, technology licensors, engineering partners, and key suppliers -supporting technical discussions, validating process choices, and contributing to the development of tailored and innovative solutions.

  • Propose technical development, optimization, and standardization of wet anaerobicdigestion processes in renewable gas plants, collaborating with R&D;
  • Conduct process simulations, mass and energy balances, and biochemicalassessments for feedstock blends, digestion kinetics, and gas yields;
  • Serve as the technology expert on wet AD – both on project execution and tendering - advising multidisciplinary teams in engineering, construction, and operations;
  • Evaluate and select pre-treatment technologies, digesters, post-digestion systems,and gas upgrading units to enhance plant performance;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process anomalies, mechanical failures, or feedstockissues in operational facilities;
  • Support permitting and regulatory compliance by providing detailed process descriptions and environmental impact data.

Requirements:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Chemical/Environmental Engineering or a related field;
  • 7+ years of direct experience with wet anaerobic digestion systems and renewable gas;
  • Proven record in designing, commissioning, and/or optimizing biogas plants;
  • Extensive knowledge of microbial metabolism, digestion thermodynamics, and gasyield optimization;
