Joining AXA XL as an experienced Underwriter provides an opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, delivering innovative and bespoke underwriting services. Each risk is unique, ensuring clients and brokers receive a best-practice, market-leading experience.

In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal business for an assigned client portfolio, collaborating with brokers and clients to support profitable growth in line with the Business Plan, and developing strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal teams.

This position is regulated under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.

What you’ll be DOING

Essential responsibilities include:

1. Reviewing submissions such as applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports, conducting research to assess risk levels.
2. Calculating appropriate risk premiums considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, underwriting, and administrative costs to ensure profitability.
3. Advising and servicing clients on insurance and risk management, ensuring their satisfaction and needs are met.
4. Managing relationships to identify cross-selling opportunities and ensure account retention.
5. Ensuring timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards.
6. Supporting business planning, monitoring financial exposure, and ensuring premium income remains within limits.
7. Monitoring claims and contributing to settlement processes.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager Property, Energy & Construction, Italy.

• Experience in underwriting Property insurance.
• Strong industry knowledge and awareness of market factors.
• Fluency in English and Italian.
• Stakeholder management skills and the ability to identify points of agreement.
