Senior Workplace Health & Safety Manager

One focus area of the Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission is to provide tools, resources, and environments that support safe, efficient, healthy behaviors and encourage employees to proactively manage their health and wellbeing. To support this focus area, Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to join our team.

The Site WHS Manager will partner with site operations teams to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizen, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes, ensuring a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates. A successful WHS Manager will build trust and confidence with the Operations Teams and direct reports, inspiring change through comprehensive risk assessments and WHS data analysis.

You will be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders and WHS team members in Amazon WHS policies and assist the operations site teams in incorporating our WHS standards. You will identify best practices, incorporating these methodologies into our standards to continuously improve the WHS landscape.

WHS Manager will engage with WHS site POCs and other operations stakeholders that need to understand the site situation, providing hands‑on training in the field. You will create and execute leadership development plans for your WHS associates, communicate WHS team expectations, give frequent and appropriate feedback, and ensure your team is executing the core competencies of an Amazon WHS professional.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of growing responsibilities in EHS or WHS or Workplace programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
  • Experience leading multiple direct reports and/or multiple sites
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, ergonomics or a related field
  • Experience with OSHA and other health and WHS regulatory requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Distribution Center or Manufacturing WHS experience with a mix of exempt and non‑exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience in a fast‑paced, changing/growing organization
  • Certified EHS/HSE/WHS Professional
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort collaborating with site leaders
  • Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem‑solving ability
  • Ability to adapt well to fast‑paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
