We are looking for a Soft and Virtual ECU Engineer to join a team working on next-generation virtual test platforms for vehicle controller development for a major OEM. This role focuses on xIL platform development, virtual ECU generation, integration, and simulation-based validation across multiple vehicle domains. The position sits at the intersection of virtual development, software testing, automation, and embedded system integration, supporting early verification activities from design phase through to validation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop virtual test platforms (xIL) for next-generation vehicle controller testing
  • Support the generation of soft and virtual ECUs across different abstraction levels
  • Work on toolchains, methodology, integration, and both open-loop and closed-loop testing
  • Deploy virtual testing approaches across domains such as ADAS/AD, Energy, E-powertrain, Body, Cockpit, and Connected Services
  • Collaborate closely with software development and test engineers within agile teams from early design phase through validation
  • Challenge design and logical architecture with a proactive test-first mindset
  • Troubleshoot, root cause, and resolve platform and system-level issues in highly virtualized environments
  • Automate vECU generation processes to support end-to-end automation of xIL platform development and testing
  • Contribute to continuous design verification, continuous testing, and deployment within CI/CD workflows
  • Support agile methods for advanced automotive features including ADAS and EV systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering field
  • At least 2 years of experience developing virtual test platforms in automotive applications
  • Strong knowledge of virtual and soft ECU development
  • Experience with MIL, SIL, and HIL environments
  • Experience with virtualization, co-simulation, and system integration toolchains such as dSPACE, ETAS, VirtualTarget, QTronic Silver, Model.CONNECT, VDK, Siemens, or similar
  • Good experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/Simulink
  • Good understanding of software verification and validation methods
  • Thorough understanding of embedded software development in C and C++, AUTOSAR software architecture, and auto-code generation processes
  • Knowledge of CAN and related analysis tools
  • Familiarity with software version control
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve platform issues with a system-focused mindset
  • Good understanding of ECU architecture and the use of software emulators and debuggers
  • Good understanding of ECU-level vehicle features in at least one domain
  • Experience with scripting languages or test automation tools
  • Exposure to Python, Visual Basic, or VBnet is a plus

Nice to have

  • Experience testing in Linux, AUTOSAR, or Android development environments
  • Exposure to ADAS, Ethernet interfaces, and related modules
  • Experience with 1-D physical modeling tools such as GT Power or AMESim
  • Familiarity with data acquisition and analysis tools such as ETAS INCA
  • Experience with continuous integration, testing, and deployment practices
  • Experience with model-driven testing in early development stages
  • Experience with dSPACE products
  • ISTQB certification
