Role Overview: As the Software Engineering Manager for Ubuntu Gaming, your mission is to enhance gaming on Ubuntu, focusing on performance, security, device support, and content sharing. You will collaborate with open-source projects and partners to improve the Linux gaming ecosystem.

Location: This role is remote, based in the Americas or EMEA region.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead your team in optimizing and expanding the Ubuntu gaming experience, especially the Steam Snap.
  • Manage project timelines, balancing features and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and other teams to align work with company objectives.
  • Conduct code reviews focusing on quality and performance.
  • Work with upstream projects like Proton and partners like Unity.
  • Drive hardware performance improvements.
  • Engage with the open-source and gaming communities for feedback and collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with upstream projects and Linux graphics stack.
  • Strong software project management skills.
  • Technical leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to travel twice a year for company events.
