Role Overview: As the Software Engineering Manager for Ubuntu Gaming, your mission is to enhance gaming on Ubuntu, focusing on performance, security, device support, and content sharing. You will collaborate with open-source projects and partners to improve the Linux gaming ecosystem.
Location: This role is remote, based in the Americas or EMEA region.
Responsibilities:
- Lead your team in optimizing and expanding the Ubuntu gaming experience, especially the Steam Snap.
- Manage project timelines, balancing features and deadlines.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and other teams to align work with company objectives.
- Conduct code reviews focusing on quality and performance.
- Work with upstream projects like Proton and partners like Unity.
- Drive hardware performance improvements.
- Engage with the open-source and gaming communities for feedback and collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
- Experience with upstream projects and Linux graphics stack.
- Strong software project management skills.
- Technical leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to travel twice a year for company events.
