Sr. Mgr. Modules Characterization & Product Engineer
In this position, you will be part of the R&D team, part of the Power Modules Subdivision based in Borgaro Torinese (TO, Italy), reporting to the head of R&D and Product Engineering of the Borgaro Design Center.
Job Location
Vishay Semiconductor Italiana spa is focused on the design, development and production of power diodes and power modules. Approximately 300 employees work in Borgaro Torinese, Italy, and the number is growing due to expansion plans.
What you will be doing
- Managing the product engineering group, responsible for concepting, characterizing, releasing, and managing all power module products from the electrical standpoint. Activities supervised include:
- Elaborating target datasheets for new products, estimating key performance data based on dice datasheets and package characteristics, using simulations if needed.
- Designing the electrical part of the power module, specifying, selecting, and evaluating the dice and other components to be integrated.
- Characterizing the power module electrical performance, performing required measurements, including the design of specific boards for low stray inductance.
- Simulating the electromagnetic behaviour of a power module using FEM software, including parasitic extraction.
- Designing tests for specific power modules (sequence and parameter setting), including selecting a test machine if needed.
- Addressing issues on the existing product portfolio at Vishay manufacturing or at customer applications.
- Managing the workload of employees, assigning tasks and group activities.
- Growing employees, ensuring they follow suitable professional paths related to their characteristics.
- Addressing customer requests by producing necessary product specifications, deriving from existing products or concepting new ones, including direct interaction with the customer during development.
What you will bring along
- Knowledge of power semiconductors, including technological process, key characteristics, failure mechanisms, and behavior in circuit applications.
- Master’s degree in electronic engineering, including courses in electronic devices physics and power electronics.
- 5-10 years of work experience covering the above topics.
- Knowledge of main power conversion circuits such as rectifier or inverter bridges, power factor correctors, DC/DC converters.
- Electrical modeling, including parasitics.
- Electrical measurements.
- Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team in a worldwide company, leveraging R&D teams worldwide and promoting continuous improvement.
- Willingness to travel to various sites worldwide and to customer sites if needed.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Cadence Allegro Package Designer X, PSPICE or other circuit design and simulation tools, including parasitic extraction (Clarity, Q3D), JMP/Minitab, CAD for test adaptor design.
