Sr. Product Lifecycle Mechanical Engineer, DCE - Mechanical Products & Services (MPS)

Join our Mechanical Solutions team to own and continuously improve Mechanical (Cooling) infrastructure products across AWS data centers. This role provides end‑to‑end product lifecycle ownership—from design and testing through operational support—to deliver reliability and cost efficiencies at scale.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Use strong engineering judgment to make recommendations despite uncertainty.
- Review, update, and approve equipment submittals for mechanical infrastructure.
- Collaborate with global suppliers and manufacturers to design product improvements.
- Build trust and relationships with stakeholders across reliability, operations, design, and compliance.
- Handle concurrent projects in multiple geographic zones.
- Explain complex systems in clear, concise language.
- Support operations through failure mode and root‑cause analysis, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operating procedure reviews for mechanical and electrical issues.
- Advise on product improvements to increase reliability or availability based on customer voice.
- Oversee root‑cause analysis and design remediation with suppliers.
- Contribute to global knowledge and drive continuous improvement at scale.
Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
- 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas.
- 5+ years of experience developing Mechanical and/or Mechanical Cooling Products and launching them into production.
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment and hands‑on experience troubleshooting mechanical components and systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
- Direct experience with the design or operation of data centers.
- 8+ years of project experience with cooling systems or components.
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
Travel
Approximately 30% intermittent travel, primarily domestic with occasional international trips.
Benefits and Compensation
Base salary range: USD 136,600 - 184,800 annually (variations by location). May include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
