Overview
Startup Solutions Architect, Early Stage Startups — Job ID: | Amazon Web Services, Inc.
Are you passionate about startups? Do you get excited about helping founders solve hard technical problems at the earliest and most critical stages of building their company? We’re looking for a Solutions Architect who wants to be deeply embedded in Boston’s startup ecosystem.
Early-stage startups move fast, have limited resources, and the architectural decisions made today can unlock growth or become bottlenecks later. Many come from accelerators like Y Combinator or backed by leading VCs and need a trusted technical advisor to help guide them.
In this role, you’ll work directly with early-stage founders across AI/ML, FinTech, ClimateTech, healthcare, consumer, B2B SaaS, and more. You’ll help them make pragmatic architectural decisions that enable speed without compromising scalability, build lasting relationships, and become a trusted technical voice in their journey.
You’ll engage with founders on various challenges, from architecture discussions before coding to scaling after a viral launch or navigating compliance in regulated industries, while maintaining a focus on practical and responsible solutions.
You’ll also have opportunities to stay sharp, share knowledge through technical content, and present at startup and developer events across Boston’s ecosystem.
Key responsibilities
- Work hands-on with early-stage founders to design and iterate architectures practical for today and scalable for growth.
- Help startups navigate the GenAI landscape, selecting foundation models and AI services and building production-ready AI-powered products.
- Guide founders through GenAI challenges including costs, latency, accuracy, safety, and best practices.
- Support startups in building data foundations for AI products (vector databases, data pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning workflows).
- Build and deepen relationships within Boston’s startup ecosystem, including accelerators, incubators, and leading VC firms.
- Advocate for founders by feeding feedback to product and engineering teams to shape tools and services.
- Create technical content for early-stage startups (blog posts, reference architectures, sample code) to accelerate progress.
- Share expertise at startup events, demo days, and developer meetups to build trust and visibility in the community.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience.
- 4+ years of experience in technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in software development or Internet-related industries.
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
- Experience with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective.
- Experience working with end user or developer communities.
