The Steel Structure Inspector ensure, in agreement with the Expediting & Inspection Category Manager, the Post order manager and through interaction with suppliers, the monitoring of material supplies from the perspective of technical compliance and progress, in accordance with the quality requirements and timelines required by the projects, highlighting any deviations and non-conformities, reporting or intervening in accordance with company and project objectives. Focus of the activities is mainly relevant to steel structures suppliers. The candidate shall be experienced on these specific typologies of material with good knowledge of the applicable international standards. As minimum 3 to 6 years of experience in this field is requested. Knowledge or certification for non-destructive examination methods is also advisable.
Key Activities & Responsibilities:
- Follow up of steel structure supplies
- Review of Vendor documents, such as: ITP, NDE procedure, qualified welders list, NDE personnel list, certification Dossier, Manufacturing procedure, etc…
- Review of inspection report prepared by resident inspectors
- Review of Material Test Certificates
- Review of Laboratory test reports
- Review of Vendor Workshop inspection reports, such as: Material Receiving Inspection Report, Traceability List, Visual Dimensional Report, Weld Visual Report, PT MT UT RT Report, Painting Report, Adhesion Test Report, NDE map.
- Verify compliance with contractual quality requirements, including operators qualifications, marking, cutting, welding, NDT, surface preparation, painting, packing.
- Interface with Project Management, Engineering department, Logistics department
- Manage fabrication priorities, aimed to allow erection at construction site.
- Deal with Vendor contractual obligations
Soft & Technical Skills:
- Degree in Civil engineering, structural design
- Fluent in English
- Excellent knowledge of Excel
- Preferred experience in steel structures design, including connections design
- Willing to work mainly as inspector, and as expediter when required
- Available for business trips (typical duration 1-2 weeks, occasionally 1 month) visiting steel structures Vendors in countries like Cina, UAE, Vietnam
- Preferred familiarity with EN 1090-2, EN 14399, AISC, RCSC, especially for fasteners management
- Familiarity with Tekla 3D modelling is considered as plus
- Familiarity with programming languages such as C++, VBA is considered as plus
Type of Contract: We offer permanent Contract, only employment contract; freelance or VAT-Registred colllaborations are not consider.
Location: Milan (hybrid working model with approximately 80% remote work and 20% on-site presence). Please note that these arrangements may vary depending on operational requirements.”
