Primary function:

System Engineer is responsible for design, development, and release of a specific powertrain sub-system (fluids or mechanical sub-system such as lubrication or valvetrain systems). System Engineer ensures that system-level targets are clearly defined, successfully achieved, and validated during project development, selecting the most appropriate architecture and design to meet targets.

System Engineer is also responsible for reporting project status, risks, and key technical decisions to management and relevant stakeholder, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout the development lifecycle.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Target Deployment: Identify and collect system requirements to ensure alignment with product targets. Monitor status of requirement definition and assess associated technical risks
  • System Concept Selection: Analyze design alternatives and select the optimal architecture using structured decision-making tools, ensure robustness in selection process through targeted evaluation activities. Prepare system schematics and boundary diagrams
  • Risk Analysis: Perform technical risk assessments and prepare System FMEA, identifying potential failures and mitigations
  • Detailed Design & Change Analysis: Deploy and communicate system requirements across all relevant interfaces (components, controls & software, other systems, vehicle) ensuring robust requirement flow-down to all stakeholders. Evaluate design and process changes of components, including assembly, installation, operational usage, and load/stress impacts, in comparison to a reference engine
  • Validation Planning and Release: Support to definition and track system validation plans (virtual and physical) summarizing open points, risks, and progress for management reviews
  • Problem Solving: Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for system-level issues

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Automotive Engineering or similar
  • Deep knowledge of system functionality and interactions with boundary systems and components
  • Ability in leading technical discussions, problem-solving sessions, and coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Capability to manage complex workflows and ensure timely delivery of system deliverables
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders and report technical progress and risks to management

Digital Skills:

  • MS Office
  • Polarion (preferred)
