Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field
- 15+ years of total IT experience
- Minimum of 5 years of specific expertise in Linux system administration
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with containerisation tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Proven experience in Windows system administration
- Demonstrated experience in script programming (bash)
- Advanced knowledge of Ubuntu Linux
- Strong expertise in container management including Docker Swarm, pipelines, CI/CD, and GitLab server management
- Advanced knowledge of WildFly and Web Servers
- Comprehensive knowledge of monitoring tools and virtualisation techniques
- Proficient in data backup and restore tools/practices for databases and operating systems
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP network management
- Experience with Ansible for automation and master-slave database concepts (PostgreSQL)
- Valid ITIL Certification
- Ability to draft technical conception documents, diagrams, and reports
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a multicultural team environment
- (Desirable) Experience with Liferay
- Language(s): English (fluent), Italian (Desirable)
Job description:
- Provide IT Support services for the development and operation of local project IT environments
- Collaborate with the ICT team to manage and develop centralised ICT services
- Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems including Windows and Linux
- Perform minor patching and major Operating System upgrades in compliance with security policies and best practices
- Conduct preliminary diagnosis of software and hardware problems in coordination with central departments
- Develop and maintain system scripting procedures for infrastructure configuration
- Manage backup and restore operations for systems and specific project infrastructure
- Administer scientific users in line with established ICT policies
- Monitor and respond to system and application logs, including error logs, disk checks, and malware checks
- Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and managed asset inventory
- Conduct capacity planning analysis and performance tuning activities
- Maintain and monitor storage systems to ensure availability and performance
- Coordinate with central IT services for the provisioning of hardware, users, network connectivity, and software
- Provide first and second-level user support to a community of internal users
- Administer Linux servers for data gathering, databases, and web applications utilising PostgreSQL, Docker, Apache, and Liferay
- Manage security administration and monitoring in adherence to central security rules under the supervision of the Local Information Security Officer
- Interact with business analysts, customers, users, project leaders, and developers to ensure service delivery
