System Dev Engineer, AWS Manufacturing and Repair

This role owns infrastructure networking architecture across AWS manufacturing and repair operations, designing and automating large‑scale network systems that underpin security hardware, assembly automation and testing infrastructure at Amazon Web Services.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain software solutions that manage infrastructure at scale, owning root‑cause determination and remediation in partnership with software, hardware, and networking teams.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of network design to create systems around constraints, ensuring highly available networks and robust security (TLS, firewalls, intrusion detection).
  • Act as an operational leader, communicate business‑impacting events to leadership, and provide expertise to resolve impacts for system or service owners.
  • Write code and automate processes to eliminate high‑scale risks, guide operational reviews, and identify anti‑patterns to prevent production impacts.
  • Develop new patterns for unique system implementations, establishing requirements for other technical teams to meet performance, reliability, and cost goals.
  • Mentor and review software designs and code, perform deep risk analysis, and drive operational excellence across the organization.
  • Partner with Facilities Infrastructure, Corp IT, and security teams to define physical network requirements, enterprise standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Directly resolve network failures across multiple networks and maintain network security principles.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of programming experience with a modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby).
  • 6+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years designing or architecting scalable, reliable systems.
  • 4+ years deploying and operating in Linux/Unix environments.
  • 2+ years of systems design, operations, automation, and process improvement.
  • Experience leading design, build, and deployment of complex, scalable software solutions in production.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the software/hardware/network life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build, testing, certification, and live‑site operations.
  • Experience leading development of complex infrastructure successfully delivered to customers.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols such as HTTP and DNS.
  • Experience automating operational tasks with scripts and reviewing changes for maintainability, scalability, and security.
  • Experience working in a 24/7 production environment.
  • Experience with service‑oriented architecture and web services.

Location & Salary

Florence, KY, USA – Annual salary range: $151,200.00 – $204,600.00.
