Tech Product Owner
Descrizione dell'offerta
If you enjoy turning complexity into clarity, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks between business and engineering, this role is for you.
What if you could help build Europe's first Super App from the inside? Rebell is building something Europe has never had before: a Super App. A single gateway where people can shop, pay, book, connect, and manage their daily lives across multiple countries, without switching between dozens of apps . In Asia, super apps like Alipay and WeChat have transformed the way hundreds of millions of people live and interact.
Rebell is already funded (+35M EUR) and staffed with senior leaders from Alipay, Twint, Scalapay, Qonto, and Glovo. The launch is planned for late 2026, and the project is fully financed, thus no dependency on short-term fundraising.
We are now hiring a Technical Product Owner to lead the definition and evolution of our merchant-side platform, dedicated to in-store and online digital payments.
This is not a coordination role. You will own technical delivery end-to-end, from the first business requirement to production.
The role
Nicola, our Head of IT, is looking for a second TPO to expand the team's capacity as the merchant platform scales.
You will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and engineering , translating market needs into structured technical specifications, API contracts, user stories, and acceptance criteria that teams can act on without ambiguity.
Your scope will span payments, merchant integrations, MiniApps , and the underlying infrastructure that makes them reliable and secure.
What you'll do
- Build bridges between business and engineering: translate market and business requirements into structured technical specifications, API contracts, user stories, and acceptance criteria that engineering teams can act on without ambiguity.
- Ensure end-to-end delivery: own the full product lifecycle from discovery to go-live, tracking progress across all testing and production environments, flagging blockers early, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks between teams.
- Drive cross-functional alignment: lead and facilitate recurring governance meetings (architecture reviews, scrums, vendor reviews), bringing together Engineering, Product, Compliance, Security, and external partners around shared decisions.
- Own the technical documentation: produce and maintain the reference documentation that keeps the organisation aligned: environment maps, integration guides, webhook specifications, exception handling policies.
- Manage external integrations and vendors: lead merchant integration efforts, evaluate third-party vendors, prepare Go/NoGo decisions, and ensure integration quality through signature validation, idempotency handling, and acceptance testing.
- Reduce ambiguity and unblock teams: identify open items before they become blockers, escalate decisions to the right owners, and ensure every team has what they need to move forward in a complex multi-vendor context.
- Ensure compliance-by-design: embed regulatory and security requirements (authentication, data protection, API security) into product specifications from day one, in close collaboration with Compliance and Legal.
How we work at Rebell
- We prefer clear rules and good systems to meetings and approvals.
- We believe in "better forgiveness than permission" , as long as decisions are well-reasoned.
- We want an ultimately lean organization . We believe that large teams create complexity and hinder innovation.
- We simplify aggressively and automate whatever we can .
- We hire for attitude ; skills you can learn from the team.
- We value contribution , not seniority.
We're an international team (10+ nationalities). English is the working language. We value people who think independently and communicate clearly, even if they're not loud.
About you
- 5+ years of experience as a developer or in a technical engineering role (front-end, back-end, or full-stack): you understand how systems are built, not just specified.
- Solid knowledge of REST APIs , webhooks, authentication, digital signatures, idempotency, and payment lifecycle.
- Experience owning a full product lifecycle end-to-end — from requirements to go-live — in a fintech, payments, or highly integrated platform environment .
- Hands-on with Confluence and Jira: you structure spaces others can actually navigate.
- Experience leading cross-functional governance meetings with Engineering, Compliance, and external vendors simultaneously.
- Comfortable in multi-environment, multi-vendor contexts: you reduce ambiguity, you don't create it.
- Familiarity with cloud architectures (AWS) is a plus: you don't need to be an architect, but you need to follow the conversation.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: ownership, pragmatism, speed, and impact over process.
- You are uncomfortable with "this can't be done" as a final answer.
- Fluent English; Italian is a strong plus
