Adria Port Zrt. is a company 100 % owned by the Hungarian state, responsible for the implementation of a terminal project in Trieste.
The company plans to build and operate a multipurpose terminal of container, general cargo, and ro-ro services on 32 hectares of land, 26 of which are privately owned, and another 6 under port authority concession until 2076 through Adria Port’s subsidiary, Aquila Srl.
Aquila, as the concessionaire, will be responsible for the operation of the future terminal.
Joining the project at Aquila, a candidate would have an exciting opportunity to contribute to the formulation of the terminal design and relevant infrastructure and superstructure requirements as well as other aspects in its final stages of development and implementation.
This is a unique opportunity to engage in a new terminal development from the early stages and to make a lasting impact on a project whose scope of significance extends beyond its economic footprint.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the engineering and technical execution of a large-scale multipurpose terminal development at the Port of Trieste. This role is central to ensuring the successful delivery of infrastructure, superstructure, automation, and operational systems in alignment with strategic goals and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Oversee the full lifecycle of engineering projects, from design through execution and commissioning, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and timeline.
- Technical Oversight: Coordinate civil, mechanical, electrical, and automation engineering teams to deliver integrated terminal systems.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with port authorities, contractors, consultants, and internal departments to ensure smooth project execution.
- Risk & Compliance Management: Identify technical risks and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and maritime regulations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed project documentation and provide regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Innovation & Optimization: Drive the adoption of smart port technologies and sustainable engineering practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in large-scale infrastructure or port development projects.
- Proven track record in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Familiarity with port operations, terminal automation, and maritime logistics is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2).
- Fluent in English and Italian.
Preffered Skills
- Experience with container terminal automation and integration of IT/OT systems.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Proficiency in AutoCad.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
Reporting and scope
- The position reports to the managing director of Aquila Srl.
- The scope of this position is primarily domestic.
