Job Description Fixed‑term contract, full time. Duration: up to 3 years. Location: Naples, Largo Barsanti e Matteucci 53.
The Synthetic and Systems Biology for Biomedicine Research Unit, coordinated by Dr. Velia Siciliano, focuses on engineering the next generation of T‑cell therapies. The current goal is to bring novel T‑cells engineered with sensors that monitor activity and functionality to preclinical models.
Responsibilities
Develop pipeline protocols for rapid engineering of T‑cells in vitro and progress toward exhaustion.
Develop experimental setups to test novel compounds to improve T‑cell persistence.
Develop experimental setups for 3D reconstruction of immune‑tumor activities.
Design and analyze experiments based on transient and stable integration of therapeutic genes in T‑cells.
Analyze and guide bioinformatics‑based predictions to identify new therapeutic targets to improve T‑cell therapies.
Write protocols for ethical approval.
Supervise and mentor junior members of the team (optional).
Write research articles and assist in generating preliminary data and figures for grant proposals (optional).
Write patents and focus on technology transfer.
Qualifications
PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology or a related field.
Extensive experience in T‑cell handling, manipulation, transduction, and flow cytometry.
Experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics tools, and analysis.
Experience with ethical protocol writing.
Good publication record.
Strong command of spoken and written English.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment.
Compensation and Benefits Yearly gross salary up to €48,000, plus bonus option; private health‑care coverage; flexible working time; wide range of staff discounts.
Applicants from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% for 6 to 13 years.
