THE ROLE

You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.

Synthetic and Systems Biology for Biomedicine Research Unit, coordinated by Dr. Velia Siciliano, focuses, among other objectives, on engineering the next generation of T cell therapies. The current goal is to bring to preclinical models novel T cells engineered with sensors that monitor the activity and functionality of T cells.

Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Develop pipeline protocols for the transient expression of exogenous genes in T cells
  • Design and analyse experiments based on transient and stable integration of therapeutic genes in T cells
  • Analyse and guide bioinformatics-based predictions to identify new therapeutic target to improve T cell therapies
  • Write protocols for ethical approval
  • Supervising and mentoring junior members of the team
  • Writing research articles as well as assisting in generating preliminary data and figures for grant proposals
  • Writing patents and focusing on technology transfer

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology or similar
  • Extensive experience T cells handling, manipulation, transduction, flow cytometry
  • Experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics tool and analysis
  • Experience with ethical protocols writing
  • Good publication record
  • Strong command of spoken and written English
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

  • A yearly gross salary up to 48k euro, plus bonus option

  • Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
