Job Title

Tire Certification Engineer

Job Purpose

Tire Certification Engineer manages all aspects of product homologation and certification within the Tire Certification group, ensuring timely, accurate compliance with Bridgestone, customer and regulatory requirements. Working with the Tire Certification Coordinator, the engineer flags issues and coordinates communication across functions throughout the product lifecycle, supporting product launch and compliance as a fixed‑term contract based in Castel Romano (Rome), Italy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage new product certification activities: create certification plans, consolidate product lists, define test plans, engage external authorities, ensure completion of activities, obtain certificates, maintain certification database, and validate specifications in the TMCCL system.
  • Manage plant certification activities: coordinate audits per regulatory requirements, plan and execute periodic audits, and ensure alignment with BSEMEA quality systems.
  • Implement new and modified regulations: study regulatory requirements, develop implementation actions, create and upgrade standards to support compliance, and communicate necessary information to relevant functions.
  • Ensure export compliance: verify product suitability for export based on IPC, plant production, sidewall marking, and content.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: University degree in engineering.
  • Experience: minimum three years in automotive industry (OEM or Tier 1/2 supplier) focused on product development or quality assurance.
  • Technical Skills: advanced knowledge of tire design and technology; basic knowledge of tire manufacturing, quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA 6.3), descriptive statistics and quality tools (problem solving, 5 why, Fishbone analysis); basic skills in plant certification and export compliance.
  • Language Skills: fluent in English.
  • Soft/Behavioral Skills: high customer focus, negotiation, communication, positive mindset, structured and disciplined approach to daily work and critical situations.

Travel

Limited travel, mainly within Europe to Bridgestone facilities and regulatory authorities.
