About Amazon ROC (Relay Operation Centre): Join a team that offers learning opportunities and work experience in transportation execution, supply chain and operations management. ROC is the central command and control center for Transportation Execution across the Amazon Supply Chain network, supporting multiple geographies like NA and EU. It ensures timely pick-up and delivery of freight from vendors to Amazon fulfillment centers (FC) and from FCs to carrier hubs. In case of exceptions, ROC resolves issues and informs stakeholders. This organization supports externalization of ROC capabilities to external shippers and vendors. ROC monitors network performance and analyzes data to identify trends and drive process improvements. Overall, ROC plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of Amazon transportation network and customer on-time delivery.
Location: Bangalore, KA IND
Hours of Operation/Shift Timings: Rotational shifts to support 24/7 operations. Schedule accommodations considered based on individual needs. Medium of support: Multi-mode (Voice and non-voice).
A synopsis of a Transportation Specialist role: A Transportation Specialist at ROC facilitates flow of information between stakeholders (Carriers/Hubs/Warehouses) and resolves issues impacting customer experience and business continuity. The role covers two verticals – Inbound (IB) and Outbound (OB) operations.
- Inbound (IB) Operations: Ensures vendor/shipper/carrier/Amazon Sites relationships, on-time freight pickup and delivery to destination sites as per appointment.
- Outbound (OB) Operations: Ensures Amazon Sites/Carrier/Shipper relationships, and that outbound trucks depart from origin sites to deliver customer orders as promised.
- Address issues such as appointment bookings, reschedules, in-transit disruptions, weather impacts, and other lifecycle events from pickup to delivery.
- Support tasks beyond IB/OB, including load scheduling, load cancellations, network capacity management, coordination with non-Amazon transportation (rail, sea), managing remote gate-houses, equipment availability, and equipment maintenance.
A Transportation Specialist provides timely resolution by researching internal tools and making real-time decisions. Candidates should understand site/carrier/shipper/driver requirements, analyze data, and communicate resolutions clearly to meet network speed and customer promise. A basic understanding of logistics and clear written and verbal communication are required. The role also involves ideating process improvements and driving them to conclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers, Shippers, Drivers) and internal customers (Amazon sites, business teams and stakeholders).
- Maintain high standards of quality and productivity in all transactions or conversations.
- Understand problem scope, escalate to relevant owners/teams, and follow through to closure.
- Work with Amazon Internal tools, MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Assess business impact of trends and make data-driven decisions in the best interest of customers and the organization.
- Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs.
- Support rotational shifts (24x7, 365 days) to cover NA and EU regions; reasonable accommodations may be available for eligible employees.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s degree in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, or statistics.
