Utilities & Power Process Laboratory Specialist
The Utilities & Power Process Laboratory Specialist is responsible for the production of documents pertinent to the Laboratory group, in accordance with quality requirements and in compliance with the project schedule, providing also technical assistance to the Discipline Leaders on project activities.
Main Activities and Responsibilities:
Following the guidelines of the Responsible, the Utilities & Power Process Laboratory Specialist has the following main responsibilities:
- Elaborate the documents and carry out the activities of competence in accordance with the quality, schedule, standards, procedures, work instructions and Contractual requirements;
- Perform detailed design activities for the relevant laboratory and workshop equipment;
- Interface with colleagues from other pertinent Functions for the process and technical topics of competence;
- Manage the technical interactions with the suppliers of laboratory and workshop equipment, as well as for chemicals and catalysts providers;
- Provide assistance during the construction and commissioning phases from home office or at site according to the project needs;
- Execute estimates related to the laboratory equipment, workshop equipment and catalyst & chemicals during estimation phase, as requested, as a support towards the estimating Functions;
- Provide feedback to the Responsible relevant to issues in the application of methods and operating instructions to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the Utilities Department in the subsequent projects, participating also in the capitalization of the relevant Lessons Learnt;
- Keep constantly updated to take advantage from the experience gained on the project considering also the feedback coming from other disciplines.
According to the complexity of the activities managed and level of autonomy, the above-mentioned activities are assigned to the Utilities & Power Process Laboratory Specialist or Senior Specialist
Personal Attributes:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Chemistry or equivalent (Technical diploma in Chemistry also considered)
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Laboratory Engineering, Industrial Laboratories or Process Industry
- Preferred experience in multinational General Contractor Business
- Preferable experience in Industrial Plant Laboratories and Workshop (officina) equipment
- Laboratory equipment detail design and specification experience
- Fluent in English and Italian languages
- Preferable experience in coordination with Building/Layout disciplines
- Dynamic mind-set and flexible approach
- Analytical, technical and methodology Innovation skills
- Excellent planning, collaboration, communication, problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with cross functional teams
- Flexibility to travel for medium/long mission to international engineering lead centers and to construction sites
