Hospital & Specialty Care Business Unit Overview
The Business Unit currently generates approximately €100 million in revenue and counts around 55 employees.
The BU Director will lead a team of 6 direct reports:
Head of Marketing
4 Territory Managers
Head of Hospital
Your role
Define and execute the commercial strategy of the Business Unit, ensuring delivery against—and ideally beyond—the agreed business plan.
Coordinate, consolidate and steer all business and financial planning processes across the BU.
Review, challenge and validate the outputs of commercial models, embedding ambitious yet realistic “raise‑the‑bar” objectives into the plan book.
Contribute as a member of the BU Italy Leadership Team, enabling the matrix organization to deliver high‑quality strategy and flawless execution across all assigned brands.
Coach and develop top talent: set stretching goals, drive succession planning, and lead the performance management cycle to align individual contribution with business goals and KPIs, while maximizing growth opportunities.
Represent Alfasigma externally as a patient‑centric organization and the healthcare partner of choice, strengthening the long‑term sustainability of the Alfasigma brand.

Qualifications
University degree, ideally in Pharmacy, Medicine or Life Sciences, or in Economics / Business Administration. A PhD or MBA is considered a plus.
10+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry within multinational companies.
The ideal candidate brings at least 10 years of progressive professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a deep working knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem and of pharmaceutical market dynamics, gained within structured multinational environments.
3+ years as Franchise Head and/or Business Unit Head.
Solid experience leading a Franchise or Business Unit within complex, matrixed organizations, working closely with senior Marketing and Sales stakeholders. Strong command of sales, marketing, financial planning, brand strategy and market dynamics.
3+ years’ experience in Specialty Pharma.
Proven and successful track record in Specialty Care, with in‑depth understanding of the hospital and specialty competitive landscape. Preference for experience in the following therapeutic areas: Gastroenterology (Ulcerative Colitis), Rheumatology (Rheumatoid Arthritis), Hepatology (Hepatic Encephalopathy).
Experience with Orphan Drugs and Rare Diseases is a strong plus.
Proven P&L and business results ownership; demonstrated experience managing a complex P&L, with a clear focus on profitability, product economics and project/brand cash flow.
Full professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to operate effectively in an international corporate environment.
Location Milan
Salary range 115 000 € – 150 000 €
The compensation range indicated in this job posting represents an estimated average range for the position. The final remuneration will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, in accordance with applicable EU pay transparency and pay equity requirements.
