Overview: The Site WHS Manager will partner with a site operations team in a Fulfillment Center to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, the individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes, ensuring a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates. The Site WHS Manager must build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. As an effective communicator, the Manager will instruct and train Operations Leaders on company safety policies and assist site teams in incorporating safety standards. The Manager will identify best practices, incorporate them into standards, and continuously improve safety policies. The Manager will lead a safety team (Safety Specialist, Safety Coordinators, Onsite first aid Associates), developing leadership plans, communicating expectations, and ensuring execution to core competencies of an Amazon safety professional.

Responsibilities

  • 6+ years previous experience in Environment, Health & Safety
  • Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and company policy
  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon Safety Policies
  • Measure site performance against published safety policy requirements; identify plans to correct deficiencies
  • Deliver on‑time and quality projects to Operations
  • Analyze safety metrics and review incident trends weekly & monthly to justify resource allocation to high‑risk areas
  • Perform frequent site safety audits to identify non‑compliance with equipment and processes; implement solutions to eliminate exposure and prevent injury at other FCs
  • Audit record‑keeping practices to ensure compliance with global safety standards and local regulations
  • Audit workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate and consistent
  • Manage and mentor Safety Associates in the assigned FC/DRRC
  • Spend time at sort centers and seek inputs from Safety teams, Associates, and leaders on improvement opportunities; ensure open communication on progress and resolution
  • Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy; audit the quality and effectiveness of all required safety training

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in Work Health Safety or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications, including pivot tables and the development of charts and graphics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS with a mix of exempt and non‑exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
